Flipping My Mermaid Tail

Howdy, howdy! I'm on the mermaid trail, flipping my mermaid tail...  Here's my latest sketch.  I've done her in pencil and charcoal on yummy thick grey 100% cotton rag paper.

Since my big mermaid painting is coming along so slowly (due to the wood absorbing the color too much even with the coat of gesso), I feel the need to keep the spirit of the mermaid alive.  I think I will do another mermaid sketch this week as well.  I'm still a bit uncomfortable in the studio due to my injuries from the auto accident so the sketching keeps me happy.

You know I like being able to sit in my big chair and putz on my sketching and doodling in the evenings.  I might even try a "Froud" fairy or two or the unicorn Tam wanted us to start last week...

Thank you to everyone who took the time to give me such wonderful encouraging comments on my last posts!  I LOVE going and seeing what everyone else is doing on their blogs too - such creative juice flowing out there!

It's raining cats and dogs outside today - wish it was raining men...hallelujah!!!

Forever in art, Jessica

P.S.  I hope the mermaid boobies don't give me a "R" rating! LOL!

ooh la la !! That is a great sketch, Jessica ! Look at all the details.. it is like seeing a real-alive-mermaid ! Like if I swim inside the ocean, she'll say "hi" to me right away ! I love how you've sketched her hand.. the finger pose is very nice and the fin... omg.. amazing detail ! I hope you recover and heal well on those injuries.. I had broken femur and pelvic bones 3 years ago so I know what it's like.. It just all takes time. I still feel uncomfy on left leg but it's OK, I take strong steps ! =)
I'm talking forever again !!!!!!
See you soon, Jessica ! Lots of healing vibes, hugs, and kisses *^^*

Oh my goodness! Seriously, you NEED to be seen more! Your talent is so incredibly amazing!!! I love this piece - the details are stunning.
Thank you too for watching the video - that was the first one and it was sooo long - the second one (textures) is much better (I knew what to do the second time around) and 1/2 the time! But thanks for sticking with me!
I hope your parents are doing well. When you're ready, let me know if you want my opinion on some of the challenges out there.
Love to you talented lady, xoxo

Jessica, your mermaid is very intriguing. There's something very mysterious about her. She's obviously very confident and strong. And no there is nothing R rated about her, lol. Absolutely beautiful.

The mermaid is coming together nicely, Jess. I especially like the tears in her tail. They give her even more character, like she's been around the reef a few times!

This is brilliant, Jessica. You must have been so patient to get that detail, especially in her tail. I am feeling the inspiration/pressure to try something like this soon! x
