The Summer heat has made me goofy!

Hello all you creative geniuses!  I know it's been a while but I've got a good excuse.  The heat has has finally pushed me over the edge, waha, ha, ha!  My art work has been so bad I can't bear to look at it let alone post it!  I swear, everything I try turns into a miserable failure lately.

There is another reason too.  I have a confession to make... Instead of taking a vacation and buying new summer clothes, I have treated myself like a princess and stocked my studio to bursting.  Obviously the added supplies have not helped my creativity and as I'm slower on the upswing than I used to be, the learning curve on those supplies is tripping me up a bit.  That's what happens when I get greedy and want all the new cool stuff.  So, it's back to the drawing board for me.  I was so anxious to use all the stuff at once I really made a mess.  It's hilarious actually, and proves a very good point.  You don't need all the fancy supplies to create good art!!!

So anyway, this is the best one of the bunch and as you can see, I didn't know whether I wanted to draw, doodle, paint or put my finger up my nose... YIKES!

Indian Summer Faerie

Or, fright night, I'm not sure which! LOL!  She is a hot mess but I had fun messing her up anyway.  I used so many different things.  Water soluble graphite, watercolor crayons and pencils, ink etc., etc...

This summer has been incredibly busy for me and I cannot wait for fall already.  I need some cooling, calming creative time in the studio and some time to rest my jangled nerves and get back into the artful bliss groove I love.  I'm pretty sure a lot of you are feeling the same way too!

I am working right now on re-arranging and re-organizing the studio to accommodate the new addition of supplies, so when it's finished I will share photos with you.  I'm not re-painting, just re-doing the tables and storage and moving my desk and computer in as well.  I'm very excited about it.

I sure hope all of you are staying cool or warm - whichever time of year it is for you.  Keep that pencil, paintbrush or marker moving and we'll get together again real soon!

Music in the studio was oldies but goodies -  Credence Clearwater Revival, Journey, Fleetwood Mac.  I didn't make it to Duran Duran so that will be next week, lol!

Forever in art,

Jessi

She's quite alluring, Jess! I know what you mean about supplies. I have a hard time making myself sit down and just experiment with supplies. I want everything to turn into a "finished" piece when I work. Not very practical. I'm trying to make myself loosen up, though, and just play more. It's really the only way to discover how all our neat supplies work. We'll see how it goes. Famous last words, and all that, lol.

Hugs to you!
Cia

Yes, she seems very happy with your experimenting.
It's such a problem to keep it under control--the art supply buying :)
This is why I signed up for the Supplies me class--maybe I can find out excactly what to do with all of the ones that I have!
(can't wait to see your room too)

I have been organizing my space too. I am hoping that when it is easy to see what I have and I can find everything I will have more time to be creative. I'm sure that you will get back to making art that pleases you soon. I think that your painting is lovely, by the way. It has been really cool here until this weekend anyway. We have a few warm day and then back to cool fall temps. I hope that your fall goes well and you stay happy creating art.

Well, I even clicked to enlarge and couldn't see any sign of her being anything other than beautiful...

Lucky girl, getting new supplies! I'm so jealous...haha!

Hey, I guess media can be sort of like children....They each have a temperment....and all they want to do is play! Sounds like you've been having fun!

Hugs,
Cameron

Oh man you make me laugh! Indian Summer is by NO MEANS a "hot mess" haha she is a beauty in her own right. I have a thing for necks...hers I just want to take a bite out of...so pretty. Love how there is a punch of color at the top of the page. Then gradually the eye takes focus on her eyes then mouth. great balance in color.
Oh and can't wait to see photos of your studio.

xoxo

Hey Jessi. Love your lady, the flowers and leaves around her make me think that something is blossoming inside of you. One of the things Ive realised these last few weeks/months is to not stress too much about producing or not producing 'good art'. Everything is a process towards the next leap, including the so called bad art. And cleaning the studio is a great start. I did that yesterday (well part of it) :-) Julie

Wot you talking about Willis? This is a great piece. Your Muse is yelling at you that this is what she intended all along - she wants you to combine doodling with paint. I can hear her all the way over the ocean. Listen up! I think that you and the muse have all these supplies in front of you and they all want to take a go on the same piece!!

Oh, I can totally relate, I've had such a hard time being inspired lately and this summer has lasted way too long. But I don't think it has affected your art, she is truly, truly gorgeous. I absolutely love this picture. You are soo amazingly gifted.
I definitely don't think you need the latest and greatest in art supplies, you are doing wonderfully with what you've got. Can't wait to see your new space, I'm sure it will be fantastic. I hope all is well with you and I hope the cooler weather is headed your way. Fall is coming, I can feel it in my bones. :) Have a magical week. Hugs!
