A little art from my big chair...

Hello from the chair instead of the studio!

As you have probably figured out, life has been very hectic with taking care of my Dad and helping my Mom so I'm run down right now and behind on my sleep.  Also since my accident I haven't been able to sit in my studio and work on my Goddess for Willowing.  It's been a huge disappointment to me not to able to keep up with class.  We are now into Angels with a Mucha inspiration and I have not been able to start one.

Since my art is the only thing that brings me joy right now, I've taken it up my from my big chair in the living room.  (I will be returning to Willowing M3 class as soon as I am able.)

I was only able to do a fairy face on plain paper rather than my usual painted backgrounds...

"Harbinger of Spring"

Ha!  I just realized I forgot to do all the stamens in the flowers.  Oh well.....and her eye is a little blah.  I will fix her tomorrow.  I just used my usual black Copic multiliner 0.5 and Prismacolor colored pencils.  That was it for this one.

For the Willowing Goddess, I removed the rest of the collage material from my Goddess's dress and repainted it.  I will figure out what to do with her dress later when I'm back in the studio again.  I highlighted her halo and defined the edges of her hair a bit - there is nothing too noticeable from the last photo.

Actually I'm a little addicted to her plain calmness just the way she is. I almost seems that any of the decoration I've tried to put on her (and I've tried a lot), she throws it right back off - as if she wants to be left simple, serene and calm.  I think if she had been smaller in size I would have been o.k. with leaving her plain, but this big canvas just seems too blank, too unfinished.

O.K., I will stop obsessing and leave her for later!

I am praying things will settle down some the next few days so I can rest and regain my strength both physical and emotional.  If I get tomorrow off I will do another doodle.  I notice that when I'm not feeling well I always go back to my doodles.  They are very uplifting and fun to do!  I go to my happy place and my worries fade into the background...  Art sure does sooth my soul!!!

Always in art,  Jessica

Hi Jess, I do too think your goddess is lovely as she is. It's totally your choice of course because she's going to end up on your wall, but I just wanted to say don't feel tied to the Willowing expectations for this picture if you think she should stay as she is. You could always try the Klimt based techniques on a second goddess, smaller if you wanted? It depends if you want serene or sparkly in your living room.

Hi, Jess !!!!
I hope you feel better soon ! Well, like Louise and you, I also think she looks lovely as is.. and the way you repainted her dress actually makes very charming texture of the cloth, don't you think? I can see and feel the strength characteristics of your Goddess as you did more refining ! She makes me go into peace whenever I look at her... very calming and soothing too ! Thanks for such lovely comment on my Angel painting, Jess !! mmmmwha~ =) I started ART with willowing when I was severely depressed in all aspect of my life, physical, emotional, mental, spiritual... I was in a muddy mess for 3 years. So my ART always has very honest feelings into it.. sometimes too raw but I figure it helps other people with healing knowing that they're never alone in that situation. Oh look at me !!! I'm talking forever AGAIN !! LOL
Well, I feel very connected to you too.. strange enough ! Anyhow, I hope you regain strength and will see you soon in this blogland ! Tada ! Love !

oh Jessica..you have so much talent, so much power in your hands with your pencils, brush, paint and papers...You are amazing!!!

I agree with the others comments, that girl is wonderful and her simplicity is calming and reveling to each one who look at her a part of complet peace...

I would like to have her near me and watch her during the tempest...this is a part of you who is like that..a nice woman living with so much pain, so much decision to take, so much love to share and so much compassion for the others...

please, take care of you gently, softly with her beside you...she observe you and tell you to stay focus only on your heart...all the other things are secondary...

happy you have doddle for companion presently...they are so nice, as nice as your paint...thanks to share that part of your art with us...xxx

Hope you are feeling better soon and that your father is as well. I love the Harbinger of Spring, such beautiful bright colours. You have quite a distinctive style.

With your Goddess, I agree with the others that it looks beautiful as it is, I think you should go with your heart on this one, raather than feeling you have to follow Tam's example. As said earlier you can do a smaller Klimt one.

I am also behind on my Goddess, as working all day, I really only have time to paint at weekends with natural light, but I have decided to take my time and enjoy it, rataher than feeling pressurised.

Hey there lovely Jess,

Your goddess looks great. You could leave her as she is. I agree with Linda, follow you heart.

I wish you and your Dad a speedy recovery.

Ooh, i love "Harbinger of Spring"! And your goddess is beautiful! And you know I love texture, so I love her dress! What I think might be cool, and this is just a suggestion..I think she's gorgeous just as she is , but since you're not feeling she's quite finished something popped in my head. Maybe do the same type of detail and feel you have in her hair, with the wonderful variations of color...and do that to the bottom of her dress in the blue tones so it looks like folds. I don't know...what do you think? Or not! Just trying to help! She's wonderful though!
